I have to admit my bias, as I am on KRBD's board of directors, but KRBD is a first-class radio station with unparalleled local news, great volunteer shows, diverse music and some really good NPR programming, too.

KRBD Public Radio for the Ketchikan area is staffed by some of the most dedicated people who live a life of service to others. It is managed by the most engaging and hands-on board members, and there's no shortage of programs that get whipped up and hosted by volunteers. Despite the disappointment that is the state-level decision to cut essential services like public radio, KRBD still finds a way to keep chugging along ensuring we hear breaking news and/or emergency broadcasts. Bravo!

KRBD is by far, one of the best home grown public radio stations. Lots of locally hosted and produced radio shows like Howling Gales, Babblefish, The far side of the Creek, Ladies Lunch and classical programs every Saturday and Sunday morning. Local news every morning, tide and weather reports, commercial fishing news, and a great staff. Can't ask for better.
